Whale Watching
The marine geography off the coast makes Kaikoura one of the world's best places to observe these incredible mammals. Some resident, many migrating at various times of the year. Winter is arguably the best time of year to whale watch - migration is in full swing and they're closer to shore. By boat, helicopter or small plane - the staff at the hotel can happily advise and arrange.

New Zealand Fur Seal
The definition of innocense, the NZ Fur Seal is one of the more delightful creatures on the planet. Whether you want to seal-spot the main Kaikoura based colony on the foreshore beyond the hotel, take a 20 minute drive north to the famous Ohau Waterfall where baby seals learn how to be big seals, or go swimming with seals - Kaikoura is the seal capital of the universe. Hotel staff will happily point you in the right direction.

Dolphins
A mega-pod of Dolphins call Kaikoura and South Bay home. Regularly viewed from the dining room of the hotel, these are the most playful of all creatures. In Kaikoura you can kayak, swim or stay onboard and simply view dolphins at close range. Hotel staff are happy to advise and arrange for you.

Horse Trekking
Amazing river, country-side, horses and guide - this is one very special experience. Treks range from 2-5 hours and need booking in advance. Let us know at time of booking if this is something you'd like to do.
